ABOUT Chef Ian

Raised in Houston, Chef Ian Pinkney has spent the past 27 years building his career in professional kitchens, beginning as a dishwasher at just 15 years old and working his way through every level of the industry. That journey gave him not only extensive culinary expertise but also a firsthand understanding of the challenges operators face every day. Joining Chrane as Director of Culinary for General Market gives Ian the opportunity to continue growing professionally while exploring a new side of the foodservice industry. He’s excited to combine decades of hands-on kitchen experience with a fresh perspective, helping customers identify practical solutions that support their unique operations. Guided by the belief that “the harder you work, the luckier you get,” Ian approaches every opportunity with authenticity, quiet confidence, and a willingness to keep learning. Outside of work, you’ll usually find him enjoying a bourbon, cheering on the Houston Rockets, spending time with his girlfriend (and the orange cat who runs the house), or planning his next adventure. While New York is one of his favorite destinations, Asia remains at the top of his travel bucket list.
